The village has a blanket of snow which is great fun for the local children who were out playing and building snowmen.

Also a great chance to get out and about with your camera and get a different view of this beautiful Tuscan landscape.

So it was an early start 6.30am for coffee then armed with clippers off into the vines to collect the grapes.

Bonnie was up and wanted to help as well

 All the grapes collected in red and white but we were only doing a third of the entire crop this year so not too bad on the old back.

Lunch was fantastic

The grapes then have to be sorted getting rid of the stems and the rubbish so the machines were loaded up

Some traditions have to be maintained

The end results are definitely worth the hard work

Everyone had a great day

Beautiful Tuscany

Trips to Vineyards and wine tasting can be arranged through Tuscanrooms in Bagni di Lucca 

Well we are now into September and the last 2 months have been hectic with many visits from friends of tuscanrooms ( new  and old).

The weather has been brilliant with many long hot days perfect for lazing by the fabulous swimming pool in Bagni di Lucca or on the beaches of Viareggio and Torre de Largo.

The Elton John concert was a great night out at the Lucca festival and everyone that came with us enjoyed the night in Napoleons Square Lucca

September and October are exiting times in Tuscany with many local festivals taking place in the small hill villages and the grape picking for this years wine at the vineyards above Lucca.

I normally help out at my friends vinyard and it is actually good fun and there is always a good meal at the end of the day. So if you fancy a das grape picking on a Tuscan vinyard let me know you will be most welcome.

The weather throughout September and October is normally great being slightly cooler than previous months so fab for visiting Florence and Lucca.

Its not to late to book your trip for half term or think about a ski break in Abetone this winter.

Make it a musical week with tuscanrooms in nearby Bagni di Lucca

It only comes around every five years so a trip was organised from Bagni di Lucca to check it out this year.

It was an early start as we left at 6am from the square outside Bar Italia.

Everyone managed to be on time and we set off for Genova. Looking back it was a good plan to leave Bagni di Lucca early as we managed to see most of the exhibition before the greater masses arrived.

The exhibition was well worth seeing and I hope I have captured some of it in the photos below
