Over the last weekend in October each year Lucca hosts the largest Comic Festival in Europe. It is a time for all the comic enthusiasts of the world ( and Italy has plenty) to meet and exhibit their collections of Super Hero Comics. There are professional exhibitions and writers and cartoon artists from around the globe. In fact there are marquees and stalls on every square in Lucca and even on the wall itself.
For thousands of Comic lovers it is their time to dress up as their favourite comic character and parade the streets of Lucca. It is like walking into a massive film set with robots, pirates, animals , monsters, characters from outer space or beyond the grave on every street waiting to pose for the thousands of camera carrying tourists.
All in all it is a fantastic day out and this year was no exception with the local bars doing a roaring trade and the shops all geared up for Halloween.
One tip if you want to go and you are staying in Bagni di Lucca then use the bus as the car parks of Lucca on this weekend get full very quickly.
For me it is the best way to visit
Lucca anyway because there is no hassle and you can share that bottle of wine outside the bar watching the stars of the weekend walk by.
If visiting next year make a not in your diary as this event is one not to be missed.

It looks as though you all had a great time. I will have to try to be there next year.
